Shrekahnth: Redefining Middle Eastern Fashion with Neo-Contemporary Prints
From 2009 to 2018, an atelier under Mimosa Fashion LLC in Dubai produced Shrekahnth collections, specializing in high-quality prêt-à-porter. The Atelier developed expertise in tailoring, pattern making, draping, and both machine and hand embroidery, supported by skilled artisans from South Asia. The embroidery designs were inspired by the rich traditions of Mughal India, Arabia, Punjab, Sindh, and occasionally West Africa and Morocco.
The Dubai atelier played a key role in refining embroidery techniques while adhering to ethical labor practices and employment standards. Alongside Shrekahnth, the Atelier also launched a resort wear and kaftan-focused brand that achieved commercial success by producing collections.
Silks like habutai, satin, chiffon, crepe, and georgette were central to the collections. These fabrics were digitally printed in India and imported into the UAE, where the garments were crafted. The final pieces featured intricate surface ornamentation, Swarovski crystals, and glass bead embellishments, all completed in Dubai.
The collections gained international recognition, appearing on runways and being exported worldwide. This journey not only elevated craftsmanship but also showcased a blend of cultural influences and innovative design techniques, making Shrekahnth a unique name in Middle Eastern fashion.
